AN ABANDONED BARN
HOMEWORTH, OHIO

Unknown
There is an old barn that sits alongside a long stretch of road in Ohio that was once part of a large farm. The farm is currently overgrown and the barn boarded up, and the only access to the barn is at the end of a dirt road. It is as isolated as one can imagine for such an environment.

The area has something of a reputation for being not a very wise place to be at night. The woman who reported the case noted that she has always had an uneasy feeling about the place. What happened to her husband late one night, I imagine, won't help to ease her mind about the old farm.

Late one night her husband and a friend were on a late-night joyride, and on whim they decided to follow the old dirt road. They had been drinking, but were apparently not quite drunk yet. Besides, alcohol is not a hallucinogenic.

At the point at which they reached the old barn, a figure jumped out of nowhere directly in front of the car. What was disturbing and ghastly was that the figure was engulfed in flames from head to toe. The figure staggered around in great pain for a few moments before running into the woods.

The young men sped out of there quickly and returned with a large group red with lights, guns, and sober heads. It was within 20 feet of the spot where the burning figure had first appeared that it ran back out into the road again, going through the exact same motions. One of the men emptied his gun into the burning spirit - the bullets did not seem to effect it in any way. Soon the figure vanished into the same spot of the woods.

The group examined the inside of the barn, which was in good condition for it's age. There were a number of spots on the floor where something had apparently burned without setting fire to the barn itself. Evidently help could not reach the isolated farm in time.
